In 2014 my husband and Emily and Lachlans father Matthew was diagnosed with brain cancer - Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma.  He endured a craniotomy to attempt to remove the tumor wrapped around his optic nerve and brain stem resulting in several strokes during the surgery.  Over the following years he received chemotherapy and then rehabilitation for his severe and life-long brain injuries resulting from the tumor and strokes.  At 11 and 8 years old, Lachlan and Emily became carers, along with myself - to their dad, helping him to complete basic tasks such as learning to walk again, talk again and feed himself. Almost 11 years on, while Matthew is in remission, he lives in supported accommodation due to him requiring 24 hour care, supervision and support to complete every day tasks.  Emily and I have been volunteering for the Mark Hughes Foundation for many years and are now taking on this challenge in order to raise money and awareness for brain cancer, the effects it has on patients and their families and the tremendous work Mark, Kirralee and their team do for those in our community facing brain cancer.

Our goal is to raise $15,000, and every donation—big or small—will help us reach that target. Your support will go directly towards critical research, patient support programs, and other vital resources that MHF provides.
